mittens
These mittens use a beautiful stitch called the Shell Stitch.
.
Materials Required
- 4 ply weight yarn (yarn weight 4)
- H crochet hook
- Yarn needle and scissors
Stitch
ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
sk = skip
ch sp = chain space
dc = double crochet
To fit average ladies hand size.
Increasing and decreasing the pattern
Work to 4 (+2) which means calculate a stitch count using the 4 times table for example 4 x 7 = 28 (4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4) then add 2 at the end of your calculation, in this case 28+2=30. So for a slightly smaller mitten you could start with a stitch count of 26 (which is 4x6+2=26) or a slightly larger mitten you could start with a stitch count of 34 (which is 4x8+2=34).
Child Size 28
Lady size 30
fatter hand 38
but in this pattern i used the 30 ch to start
Pattern
